Principal's Message

Dear Thorndyke  Families,

It is my honor and a sincere pleasure to welcome you to the 2023-2024 School Year! I hope everyone had a relaxing and enjoyable summer break. I am extremely proud to serve as your Principal of this amazing learning community for another year. I will  continue to support Thorndyke students and families with exceptional respect and service.  Thorndyke Elementary will continue to strive for academic excellence and the social emotional well-being for our students while looking through a lens of equity and inclusion for all learners.

I would like to welcome all of our new families, whether you are joining us from another school in our district, or relocating from another city, state, or country. We are excited to share with you all that Thorndyke has to offer and believe you will soon feel as we do, that our school is a special place for every student. Our educators, support staff and community based partners: Champions, City Year, Communities In Schools and Innovation Learning are also ready to welcome you and put your student(s) at the forefront of everything they do to promote academic growth and social emotional learning.

Thorndyke Elementary School  teachers and staff are excited to meet their new students and begin this year’s journey with them. Our dedicated staff have been working tirelessly to prepare our school by engaging in professional learning opportunities and updating some of our instructional models, class routines, and expectations, all with the goal of fostering a love for learning.

Thorndyke’s primary focus is to promote student success in core academic subjects, so we will continue to refine Tier I instruction, analyze data, conduct observations and review student work to help guide targeted instruction and interventions in math, reading and writing. We will also be engaging all of our students in building a sense of community, restorative practices, and social and emotional support strategies into our students’ daily school experience. Our School based teams will work together to create a solid foundation for our students so that they have the opportunity to become self-directed learners, collaborative teammates, critical thinkers, and responsible citizens.

I look forward to serving you in a rigor-filled school year by supporting students, families, teachers and our community. I strongly believe in transparency and open communication and fostering a collaborative home school connection. As we continue to  work together to take on new goals, we will create a partnership to accomplish our shared vision together.

Respectfully,

Michael Croyle
